HEAD COACH BILL O’BRIEN
What are your thoughts on the kind of season that P Shane Lechler has put together?
“I think he’s done a good job. We talked a lot in the offseason about some of the things that he could do to help our team and direct the punt. Just different techniques that he’s using at this stage of his career that have helped him and he’s done a nice job for us.”
With the kind of injury that CB Johnathan Joseph has, is it possible that he could play on Sunday or does it look unlikely for him?
“I would say that it’s a possibility but it’s remote.”
Could you give us an update on DE Jadeveon Clowney and do you see him going on Sunday?
“Oh yeah, he’ll play.”
What are your thoughts on Major Applewhite being named the head coach at the University of Houston?
“One of the guys out there just said that. I think one of the players was talking about that. I didn’t know that. I’ve met Major a few times. An excellent football coach. Obviously having worked for Tom (Herman) over there, he understands the type of program that they’ve established. I think any time a guy is promoted from the staff, I always think that’s a really good thing. I just think that’s a good thing. Guys have put the time in and they’re rewarded with a promotion, and I know Major will do a great job over there.”
You’ve leaned on TE C.J. Fiedorowicz and TE Ryan Griffin a lot this year. Given the injury situation at receiver, is it a flexible situation heading into Sunday as far as where TE Stephen Anderson fits in?
“We’ll have all three tight ends. They’ll be at the game. C.J. has had a good year, his best year since we’ve been here with him. Griffin’s had a good year, made a big catch last week on a touchdown catch. And then Stephen, you know, he’s come up big for us in certain situations – third down and things like that. All three of those guys will factor into the game plan somehow, someway on Sunday.”
CB JOHNATHAN JOSEPH
Head Coach Bill O’Brien said there’s a possibility you can play on Sunday but it’s remote. How do you view your availability?
“Just got to go out there and try to give it a shot. Obviously, I guess you do your pregame thing, work out before the game and just see where you stand.”
How do you play with rib injuries like that?
“It’s tough. It’s one of those things, kind of a pain toleration thing, how much you can take, how much you can protect it and all those things. Just go from there. Not much you can do about it.”
So it’s a judgment call pregame when you go out there and see how it’s feeling?
“Yeah, I think that’s the way to go with it. There’s not really a timetable on it. It just comes down to how much pain and how much can you do with it.”
