HEAD COACH BILL O’BRIEN
“Before we get going here, just want to start by thanking all of the brave men and women that serve our country and have served our country and continue to serve our country. In today’s world, I think there’s nothing more important than Veteran’s Day. We thank you, the veterans, for protecting our freedom and appreciate everything that you do to make this country better. Just happy Veteran’s Day to all the veterans out there.”
Did NT Vince Wilfork make enough progress to the point where you have hope for him playing on Sunday?
“I’m always hopeful.”
Are you optimistic about NT Vince Wilfork?
“No question. I’m one of the most optimistic guys around. If you haven’t noticed that. We’ll make a determination. He’ll go with us to Jacksonville and we’ll make a determination probably sometime on Sunday. He’s a veteran. He knows what he’s got to do to get ready to play. It’ll be more about, you know, he and I sitting down and determining whether he can do it this week.”
What did the Jaguars recent change at offensive coordinator do for your preparation?
“That’s a good question. That’s a change that makes it very difficult on the opponent because now you have Nathaniel Hackett and then obviously my good friend Doug Marrone there and those guys have coached together for a while, you know, Syracuse and Buffalo. They have strong beliefs in running the football and using their players’ skill sets to take advantage of what they do well and so you have to put a little extra time in to go back and research what they did at Syracuse, what they did at Buffalo. That’s difficult. That’s difficult and I thought that they came out against Kansas City against, as we know, a very tough Kansas City defense and I thought they rushed the ball for 205 yards. They did some really good things and it’s going to be a difficult challenge for us.”
Do you think there was a blueprint set up early in the season by an opposing defense to stop your vertical game and has that been put in place by one defense which is making you adjust?
“Yeah, there’s been a couple things. It’s more situationally, I would say, than it is just, you know, something that’s a big picture thing. It’s more about teams that are doing - I don’t really want to get too specific about it, but you’re on the right track. There’s teams that are doing things against us that carry over week to week in different situations that hopefully the bye week, our practice sessions during this week and our film sessions have helped us be able to combat that better. Hopefully you’ll see that on Sunday.”
ILB BRIAN CUSHING
You guys have been looking to get more turnovers, and NT Vince Wilfork has been saying when they come, they come in bundles. How are you feeling going into Sunday?
“I mean, it’s something we’re obviously going to try to go after and attack. You can practice it all you want. The biggest thing is whether, you know, you make it happen on gameday. So, we’re going to try to do it. Obviously, our main agenda is winning, though, and hopefully if we get some turnovers, it can only help our cause.”
Do you think anything special about Jaguars QB Blake Bortles and how he’s been turning over the ball a lot?
“No, I don’t think so. I don’t think so. Just try to get after him as best we possibly can, make him uncomfortable and just try to get after the ball.”
Are you feeling good after the bye week?
“Yeah, I feel good. I feel good. I think we’re all excited for the second half and making a big push.”
You said before the bye week you thought you would be feeling close to 100 percent after the time off. Are you still feeling good?
“Yeah, absolutely. I’m as close to 100 percent as I’m going to be. It’s the best I’ve felt all year and I’m looking forward to it.”
