  • Houston won the toss and deferred. San Francisco elected to receive to start the game

  • Tied for second on the team with four tackles (two solo) and posted one quarterback hit and a pass defensed
 
DT CHRISTIAN COVINGTON
  • Forced a fumble on 49ers RB Carlos Hyde in the first quarter, which was recovered by OLB John Simon for a 41-yard return for a touchdown
  • Added three tackles (two solo) in the game
 
S KURTIS DRUMMOND
  • Recovered a fumble in the second quarter from 49ers RB DuJuan Harris on the Houston 2-yard line
  • Also added two solo tackles
 
RB TYLER ERVIN
  • Notched a 28-yard kickoff return in the first quarter, his first as a member of the Texans
 
K KA’IMI FAIRBAIRN
  • Made a 45-yard field goal in the third quarter, the first of his NFL career, to cut the Texans’ deficit to 13-10
  • Kicked an extra point after Houston’s final touchdown of the game to give the team a 24-13 lead

  • Led the team with 40 rushing yards on 12 carries (3.3 avg.)
 
RB AKEEM HUNT
  • Caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from QB Tom Savage in the fourth quarter to give Houston a 24-13 lead

P SHANE LECHLER
  • Punted seven times for 368 yards, averaging 52.6 gross and 48.6 net yards

OLB ERIC LEE
  • Recorded the team’s only sack when he brought down 49ers QB Thad Lewis for a 7-yard loss in the second quarter

WR BRAXTON MILLER
  • Tied for the team lead with four receptions for a total of 34 yards
 
RB LAMAR MILLER
  • Totaled 30 rushing yards on four carries (7.5 avg.)
  • Rushed for 14 yards on Houston’s opening offensive play of the game
 
CB TERRANCE MITCHELL
  • Led the team with seven total tackles, including five solo stops
 
S COREY MOORE
  • Tied for second on the team with four solo tackles and added a quarterback hit
 
K NICK NOVAK
  • Tacked on an extra point after a touchdown from OLB John Simon in the first quarter to give the Texans a 7-0 lead
  • Made an extra point following TE Stephen Anderson’s touchdown in the third quarter to give Houston a 17-13 lead
 
QB BROCK OSWEILER
  • Started his first preseason game as a Texan and played in three offensive possessions into the second quarter
  • Completed 4-of-7 passes for 27 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions and a 65.8 passer rating in his debut
 
QB TOM SAVAGE
  • Entered the game in the second quarter and completed 14-of-24 passes for 168 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a 107.6 passer rating
  • Threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to rookie TE Stephen Anderson in the third quarter, giving the Texans a 17-13 lead
  • Completed a 9-yard touchdown pass to RB Akeem Hunt in the fourth quarter to extend Houston’s lead to 24-13
 
OLB JOHN SIMON
  • Recovered a fumble in the first quarter and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown to give the Texans a 7-0 lead. It marked the Texans’ first fumble recovery for a touchdown in the preseason since 2007 (Aug. 30 at Tampa Bay)
  • Finished with three tackles, including one for loss
 
WR JAELEN STRONG
  • Led the team with four receptions for 42 yards, including a long catch of 20 yards
