HOUSTON TEXANS RE-SIGN S QUINTIN DEMPS

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans re-signed unrestricted free agent S Quintin Demps. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
 
Demps was signed by the Texans before the 2015 season and finished third on the team in total tackles with 61 (35 solo). He also recorded six passes defensed, one forced fumble and a career-high two fumble recoveries in 14 games (13 starts). Demps has totaled nine interceptions since 2013, which ranks tied for ninth among all NFL safeties during that span. The ninth-year player out of UTEP was originally drafted by the Eagles with the 18th pick in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. After two seasons in Philadelphia (2008-09), Demps spent three years with the Texans (2010-12) before stints with the Kansas City Chiefs (2013) and New York Giants (2014). In 94 career games (28 starts), Demps has totaled 208 tackles (146 solo), 12 interceptions, 35 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, five tackles for loss, three quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks. He’s also played in nine career postseason games with three starts.
