Houston Texans Transcripts
RB Kenny Hilliard

(Transcribed by Omar Majzoub)
(on if he’s heard from his uncle and former LSU/New Orleans Saints RB Dalton Hilliard) “No sir, not yet. I’ve been getting a lot of phone calls. I’m pretty sure he’s going to be calling me pretty soon.”
(on how it feels to be following in his footsteps) “It’s great. Knowing that my uncle set that trademark for us. It’s just a blessing to be able to follow in his footsteps and follow his legacy.”
(on how it feels to be reunited with RB Alfred Blue) “I’m excited. When I came up just for a visit he was excited that I was coming to meet the Texans and everybody there. He was just congratulating me and just telling me that it’ll be nice to have us two back in the backfield like our old days at LSU. Me and Alfred have been close ever since we were at LSU. He showed me the way as a freshman and hopefully we have that same trait like we had at LSU. He showed me the way, how to be a professional. “
(on what he has learned from his uncle about football) “He did, he told me to just go in there and learn the system. He expressed special teams a lot to me, and if I could get on special teams, that would be great. Just going in there and learning from the veterans, and watch how they become professionals and I’ll be good going into the NFL.”
(on what it feels like to be drafted into the NFL) “Man, it feels great. It’s stressful, not really knowing where you’re going to go, but the Texans saved the best for last. I’m blessed to hear my name called and I’m just ready to work.”
(on playing at NRG stadium last year and what he remembers from that LSU vs. Wisconsin game) “The first game we played Wisconsin and that was a great game. We were down coming out of halftime, and we made some great plays and I was able to make some big runs. I remember just having a great game in that stadium, hopefully I can bring more being a Texan.”
(on if he remembers any particular play from the LSU vs. Wisconsin game) “Well, yeah I think I remember the last one that sealed the deal. I think it was about a 35-yard touchdown run, I just got it on the line of scrimmage and then I found the crease and hit the hole and I scored. That touchdown right there just stuck with me in that stadium.”
